1920 JORDAN MODEL M 'PLAYBOY'

Edward S Jordan, commonly known as 'Ned' founded the Jordan Motor Car Company, based in Cleveland, Ohio, in 1916. Production of their vehicles continued until 1931 with over 43,000 examples being produced during that time. The vehicles that Jordan produced used components from other manufacturers and distributors, resulting in vehicles that were not the most technically advanced on the market. In fact they were pretty bad by the standards of the day but they did have attractive advanced design Jordan bodies on them, often made of aluminum and other lightweight metals to save on weight.

They were quite popular in their day, somewhat because of their relative simplicity but mostly because of their aggressive cigarette manufacturer style ad campaigns and slogans in magazines such as Saturday Evening Post where, instead of talking specs the ads talked up the excitement of the open road. Ned Jordan was a former big time ad executive and used all his talents and experience to sell his car to the American public. Despite the fact it wasn't really that good a product. And for a number of years it worked.

This particular model is powered by a 56 horsepower 224 cubic inch inline 6 cylinder engine capable of speeds in the range of 60-65 mph. Adequate but nothing more just like the car itself. But can't you just feel the open road with the wind flowing through your hair as you get out into the countryside with a cool smoke in one hand and the thrill of the steering wheel in the other?

There's one born every minute PT Barnum used to say!
