The U.S. government has now joined over 100 nations globally and granted official recognition of Syrian opposition forces in their fight to topple the Assad government.
The regime in Russia expresses surprise at this and does not yet recognize the opposition which is to be expected as Russia strongly supports the Assad regime and has been doing everything it can to provide them with weapons and expertise to stop the rebellion from succeeding.
China/Canada has also chosen not to recognize the Syrian opposition.
