TORONTO TRANSLINK TRANSIT COMMISSION OFFICERS FALSIFY TICKETS AGAINST THE POOR; EIGHT FIRED

Eight transit police in Toronto have been fired for falsifying provincial offence tickets against homeless people, allegations which have resulted in criminal charges against five of the officers.

According to a Toronto Transit Commission release, the employees were fired after a four-month investigation that began in the fall.

The TTC alleges that the employees handed out provincial offence tickets to homeless people at locations where they had committed no offense. The homeless know not to complain if they’re treated this way or they'll receive far worse so the investigation was hampered by fear.

It is not known if and how many falsified tickets have been handed out to homeless and the poor here in Vancouver but we all see local transit police pulling poor people off the trains and buses in ‘unusual’ circumstances. There is no evidence at this time of this same crime being committed here but it is being investigated.

It's certainly something to consider when you see the less fortunate in the grips of the Translink security thugs.
