Our issues raised recently about some of the extremely questionable behaviour
of Surrey's library board and what they allow their security to get away with
has led to a voluminous amount of e-mails to us. Surrey residents seem to
really have some things to say about this library and its excessive behaviour.
As a for instance, one reader writes:
Dear Editor John:
I know exactly what you speak of when you write about the main branch of
Surrey's library system. The guards prowl around with a very unfriendly
demeanor, acting more like prison guards than a library security person. They
look over your shoulders when you're online, check to make sure if you're
sitting resting your eyes for a moment that you're not horror of horrors
actually asleep. This is apparently verboten although there are no signs that
actually say so. The only positive you could say about them is they go after
everyone. I watched a young asian university student with her head down writing
an essay of some sort and because her head appeared to be down on the table, a
guard came up and shook her shoulder to wake her. She wasn't asleep but was
startled out of her skin!
Keep up the good work reporting this crap, a lot of residents have been
talking about it and are sick of it and if these people are committing
perverted acts lets nail 'em to the wall!
Unbelievable! And the rest of our mail is on the same basic subject,
serious issues abound in this library.
People work hard. They raise their families, obey the law, avoid the
perils of illegal drug use and try hard to be responsible citizens in this
great nation of ours. And they don't deserve to be treated like criminals.
The board of trustees for the Surrey library system may not know this
but Canada is not one big concentration camp. Canadians are not all criminals
to be watched and monitored as if this were an entire nation of convicts.
We are not here to satisfy the need of a private security company to
show how 'tough' they are with ordinary Canadians, using us to try to make
mainstream new sick and twisted monitoring techniques that our grandparents would
have found repulsive.
To make it simple so anyone can understand it, if We The People are
going to be criminalized irregardless of how we live our lives, then what's the
point of being a loyal and patriotic hard-working law-abiding citizen?
According to the abusive crime culture attitudes of Concord Security and the
Surrey public library system there is no point. And they want us to understand
that.
Because in the end every new criminal created by our realization that
there's not going to be any difference in treatment no matter what our moral
and ethical stance might be so we may as well just give in and become junkie
dope-dealing work shirking criminals means more money in the bank in the form
of new business for the security industry. And that's the real motivation for
treating decent citizens as if they were criminals.
