As Canadians we here at this site are not normally in the habit of involving ourselves in the issues that America faces but we hate to see disinformation being spread and so we’re going to weigh in on one aspect of the ‘assault weapons ban’ furore currently being debated in the homes and public bathrooms of the U.S. of A.
Now we on one level deep down inside where no one should look have nothing against the idea of Americans all killing each other until there’s none of you left and we Canadians can just come wandering in and play with your stuff that you’ve all left behind. That would be so cool!
But like we intimated above lies and bullshit irritate us and one of the biggest loads is this connection some gun nuts make between AR-15 assault weapons and their like and anti-government attitude.
These weapons are not representative of an anti-government or freedom from government position, they are supportive of big government. The weapons only exist because BIG government has to fight BIG wars so they need BIG government contractors with BIG operations to design and produce BIG weapons so the BIG military can use them all over this BIG planet.
This is the complete opposite of the concept of little or no government that the assault weapon advocates pursue. The weapons only exist thanks to government. They’re not being cranked out in the village smithy to protect the townsfolk from the Redcoats, they’re mass-produced by big government. Mostly to take away the freedom of other peoples in their villages desperately fighting back with weapons made by their village blacksmith.
They’re as much a part of big government as the revenuer man. In fact, if Americans actually didn’t pay taxes like these freedom advocates argue, the government would never have been able to cause the AR-15 and other weapons of mass destruction to even exist. This, if anything, is the argument for no or little government, not “I want’s my big guns so I can’s fight off the govermint man”.
By owning and using that gun you ARE the big government, man!
